THE LMU CHEER TEAM
This is the fifth year that cheer has been considered a sport although it has been a huge part of Athletics dating back to the football years. Serving as a "Spirit Squad" for men's basketball when the university was known as Loyola, the current cheer team has grown to a service-oriented organization that not only appears at and supports all 21 LMU athletic teams and events, but performs community service. Cheer is a Division I small co-ed competitive team and is considered a varsity sport at LMU. Auditions for the LMU Cheer Team take place once a year. The audition date for 2009 is Saturday, May 1 at 8 a.m. Click here to download the application form. Please contact Karina Handeland at khandela@lmu.edu or call 310-258-8608 for more information. The cheer team has continued to impress with its overall in-game routines with advanced tumbling, stunt and dance performances. In addition to providing support to the teams during the games, the team will once again perform halftime and timeout routines. This year's team includes:
Ashley Cordes Heather Dahlgren Jovan Dansberry Natasha Grabowski Kelsey Gray Lisa Green Taylor Harvey Penelope Horan Brantley Jittu Thomas Miller Katie Mollica Nicole Stadell Greer Von Muellner Alexis Whitesides Kirsten Yetzke Coach: Travis Neese Assistant Coach: Kendra Jones LMU continued its strong showing on the national stage with a fourth-place finish at the USA Nationals in 2010.
