LOS ANGELES—The Lions won big against the Pacific Tigers, 10-1, in just six innings on Friday afternoon.
LMU wasted no time getting ahead, as
Arianna Jaurequi's single to third base set the stage for
Mika Chong's fourth homer of the season, propelling the Lions to an early two-run lead.
However, the Tigers found momentum in the third inning with a homer to right center. Undeterred, the Lions answered back when
Izzy Jamgotchian's single up the middle brought Chong home, maintaining their lead at 3-1.
LMU continued to dominate, adding another run in the fourth when Jaurequi's walk brought
Adele Braun home. In the fifth inning,
Jasmine Sofowora's single to center field paved the way for
Sakora Harvell and Jamgotchian to score, extending the Lions lead to 7-1. Despite the Tigers changing pitchers, LMU's
Lauryn Carter's double ensured Sofowora crossed the plate, further solidifying their lead.
With just two runs needed to invoke the mercy rule, LMU sealed the deal and then some. Jaurequi was hit by a pitch, advancing to first, followed by a single from Chong. Jamgotchian put an exclamation point on the victory with a homer to left field, tallying three RBIs and clinching the Lions 10-1 win.
Jenna Perez claimed the win on the mound, showcasing her skill and determination. She now holds a 9-9 record for the season. Jamgotchian stood out with nine putouts, four RBIs, three hits, and one homer, underscoring her versatility and impact on the game.
The series will resume tomorrow at 11 am at Smith Field.
