This season, players from LMU Men's Tennis will provide weekly blog entries providing insight into men's tennis program. Check out this website each week for new blog entries. Today's initial entry comes from junior Daniel Simko before this weekend's USTA Pro Classic Futures Tournament in Claremont, Calif.:
Greetings LMU men's tennis fans. I trust you are all in good health, and why shouldn't you be, you've earned it.
It's been a long time coming and the summer is over, or for some of us from outside the states: the winter! The dream of starting up class and trainnig has finally become a reality. A reality so mesmerising you could take a scoop of it and mix it in with your favourite cereal.
With the inclusion of a new team member, Othar (Kordsachia), formally known as the "Othanator," I can only assume it has everyone on the edge of their seats, so far on the edge of their seats it would be hard for an observer to identify whether you are actually sitting or in some sort of crouching position. Whispers of another American joining us in the spring have crept through the grapevine and is only adding fuel to the growing excitment flame.
Fitness has been a key component for the first few weeks on campus. Sweat has poured and muscles have flexed as we strive to gain an unbeatable fitness base. The boys were treated by our fitness trainner "Longo" (Nick Longo) to a beach workout. It was a grueling workout, on a perfect So Cal day. After the hard work, we frolicked in the ocean for a while. The German boys especially like the water. Evidence of the sun was clear the next day as Felix pasty white skin, turned red. I am confident he will soon be the most tanned German of all time. On a more serious note, the guys will be playing in three Pro Tournament matches over the next three week ends. It is a fantastic opportunity to gain some tough match practice, and hopefully a few guys may get an ATP point.
It's going to be an exciting year for LMU mens tennis, join the Facebook page. Spread it to your friends. Like it. Love it.
