LOS ANGELES, Calif. -
On Saturday, March 12 the LMU Lions and the Kentwood Koalas teamed up to beautify the grounds of Kentwood Elementary School. LMU student-athletes worked with the students and parents of Kentwood to restore landscape, paint flower boxes and clean the grounds of the school. Over the past several years, LMU athletics has continually participated in Kentwood's biannual beautification project. This spring, LMU's participation was exceptional. The turn out of athletes reflected the importance of service at LMU. The project allows our student-athletes to build relationships within our Westchester community. The parents of Kentwood Elementary School were very impressed by the participation and hard work of the LMU student-athletes. The Kentwood students were mostly excited to be working with athletes four-times their size.
Making a special appearance, the men's water polo team arrived 15 deep and ready to beautify! With a lot of hard work, and a lot of pizza for fuel, the team worked together to improve the entrance of the school. The men raked leaves, took out weeds and successfully removed a massive, dead tree root. The men's water polo team showed our Westchester community that LMU athletics is a group of winners, on and off campus.
Kentwood Beautification was a great experience for parents, athletes and students. For pictures of the event, visit the LMU Student-Athletes page on Facebook. GO LIONS!
