LOS ANGELES, Calif. -
LMU’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee held its Second Annual Mr. LMU competition on Wednesday, March 18 in St. Roberts Auditorium. The male athletes showed off their good looks, charisma, and talent, each competing in athletic, casual, and formal wear, with the hopes of being crowned Mr. LMU.
In addition to strutting their athletic physiques on stage, the eight contestants also demonstrated their versatility in a question-and-answer session, while also performing a talent of their choice. Talents ranged from guitar, vocals and pick-up lines, to the art of making the perfect Mickey Mouse waffle—all in good sport, and much to the enjoyment of the audience.
Audience members then decided the winner by voting for their favorite contestant at the end of the competition. After a close competition, Daniel Smith from men's water polo was crowned the winner. TJ Bernardy from baseball was the runner-up, and Matt Duncan, representing men’s XC/track took third.
The event also featured an intermission concert by Technicolor Dreamland, starring athletes Brian Benedetti and Daniel Smith. All ticket sales were donated to the Lions In Action community service fund to help SAAC continue to donate and serve our local schools, environment and community.
