LOS ANGELES - The 20th Annual LMU Golf Classic & Dinner Auction was a memorable one, and a record-setter, bringing in 226 golfers to Pacific Palms Resort & Spa on Friday, May 17.

Playing on both the Eisenhower and Zacharias Courses at the Industry Hills Golf Club, the LMU Golf Classic & Dinner Auction continues to raise funds to help support LMU's more than 400 student-athletes.

The number of golfers that joined the fun equalled the most golfers in the 20 years of the Classic, matching the Centennial Classic. In addition, the Classic had a record 32 sponsors donating cash and product to the event. The presenting sponsor to this year's event was Western Asset. Included in those sponsorships was O'Gara, who sponsored the hole-in-one prize of the Maserati, which unfortunately went unclaimed this year. LIDS sponsored the part of the Nike tee-prize apparel and Cleveland provided the new golf balls with the Lion head logo. Wells Fargo and Muscle Milk also provided giveaways and prizes.

"This event has become one of best events of the year, and I can't say thank you enough to each and every individual who participated in this - the 20th annual Golf Classic," said LMU Athletics Director Dr. William Husak. "The entire resort was covered with Lions. This day was another reason I am so proud to be a Lion."

The day once again began with both scramble and best-ball competitions at 11 am. As golfers finished, a cocktail and silent auction was held prior to dinner. During dinner, a live auction was held.

During the dinner, the Lions' Athletic Fund recognized alums Dick McBride and Jerry Mook for their contributions to helping support LMU's student-atheltes.
