CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif. - With more 225 players in attendance for the LMUat100 celebration of the 18th Annual LMU Golf Classic in 2011, the annual tournament set an all-time record for funds raised for LMU student-athlete scholarships. That mark lasted less than a year. The 2012 LMU Golf Classic and Dinner Auction in support of LionsFund held on May 18 at Pacific Palms Resort finished raising more money in the history of the 19-year event. "While our numbers were slightly down in terms of the number of participants, this year's event was a huge success," said Athletic Director Dr. William Husak. "I am proud of LMU and all involved with this event in that we went above and beyond all expectations for LMU student-athletes. I want to thank everyone involved in the event - from the participants to those who volunteered." In addition, 31 different sponsors joined in support of the tournament, setting further records in support for raising funds for LMU's more than 425 student-athletes. A few highlights from the 19th Annual LMU Golf Classic and Dinner Auction supporting LionsFund: · A near 10% increase from last years all-time record for revenue "This and so many other successes are a huge credit to everybody who came out to volunteer, staff, play, and be a part of the event, from annual giving staff to alumni volunteers, and the athletics coaches and student-athletes who spent part or all of the day out there to make for a great experience for all our golfers," said Husak.
