LOS ANGELES, Calif. -
This past Sunday, September 28th, over 90 of LMU's student-athletes participated in a Kentwood Elementary School cleanup. The cleanup was organized with the local Elementary school as a part of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee's (SAAC) new "Lions in Action" program.
The new program is designed to increase student-athlete involvement in the community. Athletes from women's volleyball, men's and women's cross country, women's softball, women's soccer, and men's water polo worked with the PTA and parents to improve Kentwood's landscape, build new flower beds, and transport trees in an effort to beautify the school grounds.
Kentwood Elementary was extremely grateful for the help and are looking forward to working with the student-athlete volunteers again in the near future. In the coming weeks, the student-athletes will continue their work as a part of "Lions in Action," preparing meals for Path's Soup Kitchen and cleaning
up the newly adopted LMU student-athlete beach.
