LOS ANGELES, Calif. -
The second annual Kentwood Elementary Beautification day was held on Saturday, December 5th, 2009. For the second year in a row, Loyola Marymount University student-athletes donated their time and effort to beautify the grounds of Kentwood Elementary School.
As a comprehensive unit, all the different teams gathered together to lend a helping hand to the Westchester community. The Student Athlete Advisory Committee set goals to enhance the relationship between LMU student-athletes and the surrounding Westchester community at the beginning of the school year. These goals were successfully achieved when athletes attended in large numbers this past Saturday to remove weeds, rake leaves, plant flowers and show their support.
Record-breaking attendance was seen from members of many teams including women's swimming, women's cross country, women's water polo, women's softball, women's volleyball, men's and women's soccer, and finally, men's tennis. The help was greatly appreciated by all Kentwood Elementary School faculty members and parents. The gardens now look bright and colorful, and the grass is ready for recess. The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee is very grateful to be provided the opportunity to help Kentwood Elementary School. SAAC looks forward to continuing this positive relationship well into the future.
